Financial Analyst (Part-Time Consultant)

About the Role We are seeking a part-time Financial Analyst (consultant) to work directly with Mitch Salis, CFA, MBA — a seasoned Fractional Chief Financial Officer specializing in strategic financial leadership, forecasting, financial modelling, capital planning, and transaction readiness.
You’ll be exposed to advanced financial modelling, performance analysis, and strategic finance work, with direct mentorship from Mitch. The role offers visibility into real-world executive decision-making and the chance to take ownership of analytical deliverables that support high-impact initiatives — all within a flexible, long-term consulting engagement.
We’re looking for someone who is driven, positive, and collaborative — someone who enjoys working closely with a CFO while taking ownership of their work and contributing proactively to financial projects. There is a strong chance for the role to grow quickly as the practice expands.
Key Responsibilities Financial Optimization & Performance Analysis Analyze financial performance, margins, trends, and operational efficiency. Identify opportunities for improved profitability and cost optimization. Standardize financial data to enhance visibility and decision quality. Build KPI dashboards and performance scorecards that improve visibility and decision-making.
Financial Modelling & Forecasting Build and refine financial models (budgets, forecasts, cash flow, 3-statement). Run scenario and sensitivity analyses to support strategic planning. Ensure model integrity, structure, and alignment with business realities.
Capital Raising Preparation Prepare financial materials for lenders and investors (models, schedules, KPIs). Support financial due diligence by validating, organizing, and structuring data. Assist in building investor-ready packages and supporting analyses. Experience creating investor decks, board materials, or client-facing financial presentations.
Business Sale & Transaction Readiness Support financial preparation for M&A, equity transactions, or debt facilities. Clean, reconcile, and structure financial information for external review. Assist in creating transaction documentation and supporting schedules.
Financial Operations & Collaboration Partner with bookkeepers and accountants to reconcile records and ensure data accuracy. Improve reporting frameworks, templates, and financial processes. Maintain well-organized, consistent financial documentation across engagements.
Qualifications Required 3–5 years’ experience in finance, such as FP&A, corporate finance, investment analysis, transaction advisory, or finance-focused consulting. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, or another quantitative discipline. Strong proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets and advanced financial modelling. Solid understanding of financial statements and accounting fundamentals. Must be legally eligible to work in Canada (U.S. eligibility is an asset).
Highly Valued Proactive, resourceful, and able to operate independently while knowing when to seek guidance. Familiarity with accounting platforms (QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, etc.) and CRM tools (Salesforce, Dynamics, HubSpot, or similar). Strong judgment and reliability. Clear and concise communicator with strong organizational skills. Adaptable, detail-oriented, and committed to producing high-quality analytical deliverables. Interest in a long-term consulting engagement with direct mentorship from a seasoned Fractional CFO who specializes in strategic financial leadership.
Engagement Details Part-time consulting, approximately 10–15 hours per week to start, with hours expected to be distributed across the week to support ongoing collaboration and timely project progress. Potential to grow into a larger or full-time engagement for the right fit as the practice expands Compensation: $50/hour Fully remote Flexible schedule
