About the role
Organization Overview Ignite Adult Learning Corporation is an education and training facility for adults (ages 16+) who haven't finished their high school education. Roughly 65% of our students are Indigenous and the others typically fall into one or more marginalized groups (e.g., newcomers to Canada, visible minorities, LGBTQ2A+ individuals, etc.). Our students work toward their Adult 12 diploma and participate in a variety of other programming including employment and computer skill development, SMART addiction recovery, Indigenous Learning, etc. We have a positive and supportive work environment, and we are always looking to better support our staff and our students. Position ActivitiesThe Indigenous Advisor reports to the Director of Indigenous Learning, and the Executive Director. The Indigenous Advisor is responsible for:Delivering a weekly Indigenous Learning class for 2-10 students Activities may include presentations, talking circles, cultural mentoring, etc.Support students with Indigenous Knowledge, and attending, cultural activities in ReginaCollaborate on the development of teaching materialsProvide cultural support to students as neededSchedule and complete interviews with prospective studentsOrganize and manage entrance testsSupervise students as neededAdditional duties as assigned Position DetailsJuly 2026 - Sept 2027 (with the possiblity of extension)904 Vic ave. Tuesday to Thursday 8:00 4:00, with some flexibilityAbout 3 weeks per year including a mandatory closure at ChristmasSalary range: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 plus benefits QualificationsBachelors Degree in Education or Social Work and at least 2 years experience in a client/student-support role. Alternate combinations of education and experience may be considered.Familiarity with Indigenous cultures,knowledge, ceremonies, etc. 2 years experience working with clients experiencing multiple barriersIndigenous candidates will be given preference
