What This Position is About:
Reporting to the Director, Student Experience and Athletics, the Head Coach will work closely with the Coordinator, Student Life & Recreation and is responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating the technical, tactical and physical components of a Fleming Phoenix Extramural hockey program. This program prepares the student-athlete for successful competition within the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) through Ontario Collegiate Recreation. This is a part-time position, which requires evenings, weekends, and periodic daytime hours. The Head Coach must be of good character and have demonstrated a high caliber of leadership, sportsmanship and coaching performance.
The position is accountable for providing guidance, leadership, mentorship and development for Assistant Coaches, and student athletes. Reporting to the Director, Student Experience and Athletics, this position will work collaboratively with the Coordinator, Student Life & Recreation to create an excellent environment for our Fleming Phoenix student athletes to develop and succeed.
Work Schedules:
This position has been designated as on-campus and is expected on-site 100% of the time. This position will work mostly evenings and weekends from August 2026 until March 2027. The hours of work will be up to 24 hours per week and will not exceed 100 hours for the contract period.

What We Are Looking For:
Completion of a Two (2) year Diploma in Business, Recreation & Leisure, Sports Management or equivalent.
A minimum of three (3) years of work experience:
- Demonstrated coaching experience, preferably at the post-secondary level.
- Industry trends related to athletics (i.e. concussion protocol, accessibility in sport)
- Strong and effective communicator
- Demonstrate ability to embrace equity, diversity and inclusivity, and reconcile significantly diverse viewpoints
- Complex problem-solving skills
- Interpersonal and team building skills
- Compassion and empathy
- Professionalism
Additional Qualifications:
NCCCP (National Coaching Certification Program) Coaching Stream Certified, Train to Compete (preferred)
