Position Title: Learning Support Teacher

a key division of the Society, Regent Christian Online Academy (RCOA)
specializes in partnering with home-learning families to provide a flexible,
high-quality K-12 education. We bring the RCAS mission to life as a Provincial
Online Learning School, offering innovative onsite and virtual programming
across British Columbia. At RCOA, we are dedicated to providing a personalized
educational journey that inspires lifelong learning and fosters spiritual
growth in every student.
Reports to: Director of Inclusive
Education
Overview: The Learning Support Teacher (LST) provides vital support to learners with mild to severe learning needs.
This role involves deep collaboration with parents, Home Learning Support
Teachers (HLST), PIE Teachers (PIETs), and community resource personnel to
design, implement, and monitor personalized educational journeys.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Support &
Assessment
Consult with parents and teachers to determine support needs and offer
strategies/tools.
Develop and monitor Learning Support Plans (LSPs) and Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for learners requiring ongoing support. Develop and implement behavior support plans in collaboration with counselors and
families as required.
Complete informal and formal testing for learners struggling with literacy or
numeracy and write comprehensive reports.
Observe learners and coordinate separate settings, readers, or scribes for
provincial exams (FSA/Literacy/Numeracy).
Case Management &
Communication
Schedule and facilitate meetings with resource personnel, families, and teachers. Maintain regular contact with parents (monthly or more) via Zoom, email, or
in-person meetings.
Communicate regularly with teachers to assess learner progress and suggest curriculum
adjustments.
Ensure all documents (LSPs, IEPs, progress reports) are completed, labeled
correctly, and posted to OTIS.
Write report card comments for each term for all assigned LS learners.
Administrative &
Departmental Duties
Complete requests for Learning Support Services in OTIS, including tutoring and
online programs.
Provide directives for tutors and monitor their monthly progress reports. Manage LS program budgets and establish financial support protocols for
Educational Psych Assessments.
Maintain a detailed LS learner Excel tracking tool and share it monthly with the
Director of Learning Support (D of LS).
Attend monthly department meetings and stay in regular contact with the D of LS. Reply to all emails within two business days and provide notice for any
emergencies.

FTE: 0.4 – 0.6

Pay
Compensation & Benefits:
CA $16,000 to 50,000
Benefits: Extended Health & Dental, Pension plan available upon eligibility.

Christian who actively participates in a local church community.
