The Program Assistant is responsible for supporting the daily organization of the clinic/office and providing administrative support to the clinic's healthcare practitioners.

Regular Part-Time

Rate of Pay: $29.01 - $36.25 per hour

Hours of Work: No guarantee of hours

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of a 2 (two) year diploma in Medical Office administration or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by the Hospital
  • Minimum one-year recent, related experience
  • Demonstrated proficient dictatyping skills
  • Demonstrated proficient knowledge of medical terminology
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Powerchart, Cerner and Acuity Star) and database management
  • Demonstrated understanding of OHIP principles to process patient referrals
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in a setting of multiple and competing priorities
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and to work independently
  • Demonstrated advanced ability to effectively communicate professionally (both verbal and written) with all staff, patients, and their families
  • Ability to identify and bring forward to the physician(s) issues, items, and concerns
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other Medical Secretaries within the Division.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and be empathetic and sensitive to patient needs
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC's Vision, Purpose, and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
