The Health Centre is currently recruiting for the following position:
Job Title: After-Hours Food Pickup – Health and Wellness Pay: $20.00 per hour Part Time, Fixed Term Contract – 6-month contract 4 to 5 hours per week
Job Summary: Reporting to the Manager, Health Promotion and Community Services, this role will support Health & Wellness food programming. This position is responsible for retrieving previously arranged food donations within Waterloo Region and transporting them to the Health Centre outside of the Health Centre’s regular business hours.
Responsibilities: Visit donor locations to retrieve food donations during evening or weekend hours Load, unload, and safely transport food donations with personal vehicle or company van Store food donations properly and safely inside the Health Centre Utilize OK Alone while completing food pick up and storage duties
Qualifications: Available for the required hours of work consistently and ongoing Access to a reliable personal vehicle G1/G2 or G licensed with proof of appropriate vehicle insurance Ability to safely lift and carry 30lb repeatedly Good time management and punctuality. Ability to follow food safety and handling guidelines. Commitment to Community Healthcaring KW’s mission and values.
Accountability: This position reports to Manager, Health & Wellness.
Schedule: 4-5 hours per week St. Jacob’s Market – Saturday afternoons, 2:30 to 6:30pm (4 hours) OR; Kitchener Market – Saturday afternoons, 1:00-6:00pm (5 hours) May include other evening pick ups for coverage on rare occasions
Steps:
- Pick up the van and takeout bags/bins at CHCKW
- Pick up the van and complete any required sign-out procedures.
- Collect all necessary takeout bags, bins, or other supplies needed for transporting donations.
- Pick up donations
- Travel to the scheduled donation pickup location. -Confirm the donation pickup with the donor.
- Carefully load all donated items into the van, handling fragile items appropriately.
- Verify that all expected donations have been collected before leaving location.
- Count items upon return
- Count and document donations upon return
- Unload all donations at the CHC.
- Send an email to Client Services Assistant with the donation count
- Store donations appropriately
- Place donations in their designated storage locations following food safety guidelines.
- Ensure storage areas are left clean and organized and return any empty bins or equipment to their proper location.
Benefit package: • Vacation: 4% per pay • Optional Defined Benefit Pension Plan (through HOOPP)
