About the role

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in veterinary medicine and a passion for animal care. As an RVT, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality medical care to our patients, assisting veterinarians in various procedures, and ensuring the well-being of animals in our facility.

Duties

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures.
  • Perform animal handling and restraint techniques to ensure the safety of both animals and staff.
  • Conduct laboratory tests and analyze results, including blood work and urinalysis.
  • Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and documentation of treatments provided.
  • Utilize aseptic techniques during surgical procedures to prevent infection.
  • Provide dental care including cleaning, polishing, and applying sealants while utilizing dental terminology.
  • Monitor animal vital signs and overall health during procedures and recovery.
  • Educate pet owners on proper animal husbandry, nutrition, and general care practices.
  • Assist with x-rays and other diagnostic imaging as needed.
  • Participate in kennel duties including cleaning, feeding, and exercising animals.

Requirements

  • Valid RVT license or certification from an accredited veterinary technician program.
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, and critical care practices.
  • Experience in veterinary settings with a focus on animal handling and restraint techniques.
  • Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment is preferred.
  • Previous experience in dog training or grooming is a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
  • Excellent communication skills for interacting with pet owners and team members.
