LUMBER SALES ASSISTANT

VERNON, BC

Our Lumber Sales Assistant keeps things moving. With a strong focus on both the details and the customer experience, they play an important role in supporting Tolko's sales team and ensuring orders flow smoothly from start to finish. From maintaining reload inventory availability, coordinating product releases, and managing order files to assisting with order entry during peak periods, this position helps keep our sales operations running efficiently. We’re looking for a Lumber Sales Assistant to join our team in Vernon, British Columbia.  Our head office houses Tolko’s corporate services groups including Sales, Marketing & Logistics, Finance, Accounting & Credit, IT, Procurement, Human Resources, and Corporate Administration.  

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field.
  • Previous customer service or sales experience preferred.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a passion for building relationships.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and computer-based analytical skills.
  • Must be a self-starter with a high degree of initiative, resourcefulness and creativity.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Knowledge of the forestry industry is considered an asset.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage reload inventory updates, ensuring available volumes are accurately reflected for sale on the board.
  • Coordinate product releases and oversee reload order files to support timely customer deliveries.
  • Proactively monitor and follow up on delayed orders, working with internal teams to resolve issues and meet customer expectations.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding order status and shipment timing.
  • Support the sales team by reducing administrative workload associated with order tracking and release requests.
  • Assist with order entry, including purchase orders (POs), transfer orders (TOs), and sales orders.
  • Process high volumes of orders during peak periods, ensuring accuracy and timely system updates.
  • Collaborate closely with traders and sales teams to maintain efficient order flow and support daily business operations.
  • Help improve operational efficiency by allowing sales and trading teams to focus on customer relationships and market opportunities rather than administrative tasks.
