What We Need:

The Director, Medical Affairs is responsible for leading the hospital’s Medical Affairs portfolio. The Director ensures compliance with Hospital By-laws, the Public Hospitals Act, regulatory requirements, and medical staff policies.

This key leadership role works in partnership with senior level medical leadership, program administrative leaders and external partners to support the Oak Valley Health medical staff.

The position partners with and reports to the Chief of Staff. The position also partners with the Vice President, Medical Operations and the Vice-President & Chief Financial Officer for medical affairs administrative and operational matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Medical staff governance and engagement
  • Performance management including being a gatekeeper for medical quality of care and risk management
  • Human resource lifecycle management - Planning, recruitment, credentialing, onboarding, recredentialing and offboarding
  • Education initiatives for medical staff leaders
  • Departmental budgeting and medical staff remuneration and funding including stipend and on-call payments
  • Administrative leadership for various committees & activities including the Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) and Medical Staff Association (MSA).
  • Strategic influence for organizational priorities that impact the practice of medicine within and outside the organization.

What you bring to the role:

  • Demonstrated experience leading a medical affairs portfolio in a hospital setting
  • In-depth understanding of hospital and medical staff relations including governance and engagement
  • Demonstrated relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with medical staff, executives, and both internal and external partners
  • Experience managing complex and sensitive professional matters with discretion and sound judgment
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and strategic planning abilities
  • Knowledge of quality improvement, risk management, and professional practice standards
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and safe workplace culture aligned with organizational values

Qualification:

  • Undergraduate degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, or a related field required
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, or related discipline preferred
  • Demonstrated medical affairs or relevant leadership experience

Work Schedule:

2-3 days per week

Range:

$75.46 - $98.48
