Tamara’s Piano Studio and Music Therapy Services (TPSMTS) is a neurodiversity-affirming private practice specializing in 1:1 adapted music lessons and music therapy sessions for children, adolescents, and adults with a variety of developmental, neurological, sensory, and communication profiles.
Since 2007, TPSMTS has provided services both in our welcoming Thornhill studio and in clients’ homes throughout York Region and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
We are currently seeking a compassionate, creative, and collaborative Music Therapist to join our growing team as an Independent Contractor. What You’ll Do: Provide individualized music therapy sessions and adapted music lessons using a flexible, client-centered approach Support clients with a variety of learning styles, communication preferences, and support needs Build positive, collaborative relationships with clients, families, and team members Maintain organized and timely clinical documentation with ongoing supervisory support and feedback Participate in team meetings, supervision/in-service sessions, and studio events Assist clients in preparing for our annual End-of-the-Year Party and Recitals Consult with new and existing families regarding goals, progress, and recommendations Support team collaboration and occasional coverage when needed Provide services both in-studio and in clients’ homes throughout York Region and the GTA Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Music Therapy (including 1000-hour internship) Certified Music Therapist (MTA) in good standing, eligible for certification, or currently completing internship and/or certification requirements Membership in good standing with CAMT and MTAO, or eligible for membership Experience working with neurodivergent individuals and/or individuals with diverse support needs through clinical placements, employment, volunteer work, or internship experiences Experience teaching music lessons (piano, voice, guitar, etc.) considered an asset Strong interpersonal, clinical, and written communication skills Organized, dependable, professional, and responsive Open to feedback, ongoing learning, and collaborative supervision Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and initiative Available to work in both studio and in-home settings Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Check Proof of two valid COVID-19 vaccinations is required, as some of the individuals and families we support may be medically vulnerable or immunocompromised Preferred QualificationsPreference will be given to candidates who possess one or more of the following: RCM Grade 8 (or higher) piano certification and/or equivalent training in another instrument Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) training Experience supporting neurodivergent individuals with varying sensory, motor, communication, or emotional support needs Current or qualifying membership with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification Valid Ontario G-class driver’s license with access to a vehicle Why Join TPSMTS?
