This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement.  Course number and title:  ITA315Y5Y Italian Theatre: 19th-20th Century     Course description: (Offered in English, performances in Italian) A study of 19th- to 21st-century Italian plays and playwrights, culminating in the staging of a play from one of those eras. Students may take on acting and/or stage production roles.   Number of positions: 1 ( H course equivalent, F term only) Estimated course enrolment: 25 Estimated TA support: TBD

Class schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays (1:00pm-3:00pm). Additional 24 hours will be scheduled in consultation with students. However, if this changes for any reason, you will be provided with as much advance notice as practicable.]

  Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026 (H course equivalent)

Salary: Sessional Lecturer I - $9,997.48 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE) Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $10,699.22 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE) Sessional Lecturer II - $10,699.22 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE) Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $10,953.96 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE) Sessional Lecturer III - $10,953.96 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE) Sessional Lecturer III Long Term - $11,228.90 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE) Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

  Minimum qualifications: Applicants must have completed a PhD in Italian Studies, with demonstrated knowledge in the specific area of the course.  Demonstrated experience teaching university-level Italian literature courses at the intermediate-advanced level is required. (Near-)native fluency in spoken and written Italian is required.   Preferred qualifications:  Demonstrated excellence in this course, or a similar course at the university-level, is preferred. Experience with and cross-disciplinary background in Italian literary, theatre and drama, diaspora, media, and cultural studies, and/or new methodological approaches in language learning is preferred. Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12   Description of duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a University credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; out-of-class interactions with students via e-mail and office hours; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; order all necessary readings.
