The** Catholic Independent Schools of the Vancouver Archdiocese ** (the CISVA) operates 46 schools – 40 elementary and 6 high schools. JOB DESCRIPTION

Library Operations & Resource Management

  • Support daily circulation services (check-in, check-out, renewals, holds)
  • Maintain accurate records using library management software
  • Catalogue, process, and shelve new materials
  • Conduct regular shelf reading, inventory checks, and collection maintenance
  • Assist in the repair and care of library materials

Student & Staff Support

  • Assist students and staff in locating, selecting, and using library resources
  • Provide basic instruction in library systems, research tools, and digital resources
  • Supervise students in the library, fostering a respectful, safe, and faith-filled environment
  • Encourage a love of reading that supports both academic growth and personal formation

Faith & Community Integration

  • Help create library displays and programming that reflect the liturgical calendar, Catholic Social Teachings, and school faith themes
  • Support initiatives that highlight authors, saints, and spiritually enriching literature
  • Coordinate with the PPP coordinator, volunteer parents, including scheduling
  • Coordinate with community/parish volunteers

Technology & Digital Resources

  • Use library management systems (e.g., Destiny, Koha, or similar platforms)
  • Support access to e-books, online databases, and educational technology tools
  • Assist with troubleshooting basic library technology and equipment

Administrative & Collaborative Duties

  • Assist with library reports and record keeping
  • Support school events such as book fairs, literacy initiatives, and guest author visits
  • Collaborate with teachers to support curriculum-linked research and learning projects

Qualifications

  • Experience in a school or library setting, library systems, and basic educational technology are assets
  • Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Catholic education
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
