Job Summary & Key Responsibilities

The part-time academic will be responsible for teaching: SLWK 3102 Sec 52, “Advancing Social Justice” in the Fall Term**,** from September-December 2026, online.

Course description: This course introduces students to the central concepts of social justice perspectives through the deconstruction and reconstruction of various assumptions, practices, and positionalities that advance and/or impede social justice. Rooted in processes of critically reflective analysis, this course attends to cognitive, affective, and spiritual learning processes.

The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the course, including preparing and delivering lectures, grading of assignments, and online consultation with students. Online courses are taught using Brightspace. In addition, the part-time academic should expect to be engaged in course preparations for one-two months preceding course delivery.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position

Extensive experience in social work (or related fields), with a social justice focus, is required. A Master of Social Work degree, or higher, and previous teaching experience, preferably with online teaching.

Salary Range/Pay Rate

Per CUPE Collective Agreement
