Veterinary Assistant, Client Care

Chester Basin Animal Hospital is currently welcoming a dependable and caring Veterinary Assistant, Client Care coordinator to join our team. This part-time opportunity includes a range of responsibilities that directly attributes to the efficient and effective daily operation of the hospital. Your primary responsibility is to ensure our clients and their pets feel welcomed, expertly cared for, and appreciated!

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments
  • Create a warm and welcoming environment for our patient and pet parents
  • Respond and manage email correspondence; clients, referring veterinarians & internal office messages
  • Placing outbound calls to pet parents for follow-up and future appointment bookings
  • Invoicing/billing; creating estimates, obtaining pet owner confirmation, and processing payments
  • Admitting and discharging pet patients
  • General housekeeping duties; cleanliness of reception area, pet holding areas, and common areas

Qualifications and Attributes

  • Veterinary Assistant (VA) or Veterinary Office Assistant (VOA) program certificate is an asset
  • Ability to answer a multiline phone system and track and book appointments effectively
  • Previous customer service or front desk experience in hospitality or retail is an asset!; a real aptitude for putting people at ease and creating a welcoming environment
  • Takes initiative to complete tasks throughout the day
  • Compassion and nurturing attitude
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations and to adapt to changing situations
  • Efficient in carrying out assignments independently
  • Willingness to learn more regarding; veterinary services, updated medical office procedures and assisting the Veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments
