Position: Part Time Temporary Psychoeducational Consultant (Mental Health Focus)

Location: HDSB Schools [Burlington, Halton Hills (Acton & Georgetown), Oakville, Milton]

Term: Sept 2, 2026 to June 30, 2027

Pay Rate: $80,113.00 - $106,216.00 per year as per the collective agreement

Salary step would be determined based on previous experience

Work Schedule: 10 Months/year (September - June); 17.5 hours per week

We are seeking a Psychoeducational Consultant to join our clinical services team.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Professional Services, our Psychoeducational Consultants offer a variety of services in support of students learning, social, emotional and behavioural development. Your role as a school-based Psychoeducational Consultant requires you to demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills, creativity, flexibility, and commitment in order to improve the lives and educational outcomes for students.

Areas Of Responsibility May Include

Facilitate therapeutic groups utilizing Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing frameworks. Deliver engaging psychoeducation and professional learning opportunities tailored to the needs of staff members, students, and their families. Actively contribute to the development and implementation of preventative programming alongside local and regional board-wide initiatives when appropriate. Collaborate with multidisciplinary professional teams when needed or required. Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills in managing a busy caseload and schedule. Apply a deep conceptual grasp of executive functioning, various theories of change, and techniques in motivational interviewing. Maintain proficiency in structured, brief clinical interventions, CBT, and DBT skill-building. Provide single session, brief support for students looking for support with executive functioning. Provide drop-in learning strategy sessions for students in Grade 7-12 with a specific focus on building habits and bolstering executive functioning skills. Perform comprehensive psychological assessments for students with complex neurodevelopmental profiles as part of a multidisciplinary team. Ensure the provision of culturally responsive and identity-affirming clinical support to a diverse student population and their families. Conduct professional services in accordance with the C ollege of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO) Standards of Professional Conduct and the Canadian Code of Ethics. Complete other duties as assigned by the Manager of Professional Services that falls within the scope of the role.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Psychology from an accredited university, with a specialization relevant to school psychology. The minimum education preferred for this position is eligibility for autonomous registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO) as a Psychologist/Psychological Associate. Consideration for those with non-autonomous standing with CPBAO and/or registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) will be considered. Proven experience working within a school board setting, providing psychological services tailored to children and adolescents. Demonstrated success running therapeutic groups is required, including the ability to use creative methods to keep students engaged. Strong familiarity with mental health, special education, and educational programming to effectively address a broad range of student needs. A history of working as a collaborative member of a multidisciplinary team and developing strong partnerships with students, families, and school staff to support student well-being. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently with confidence, while maintaining a willingness to seek guidance and consultation from managers when needed. Exemplary skills in Google Suite and professional record-keeping processes. Access to reliable transportation and a willingness to travel and work within all areas of the Halton region.

Preferred Qualifications

Registration with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario Experience working in a school board setting supporting youth with a diverse range of strengths and abilities and a variety of lived experiences (socio-economic, cultural etc.), including equity deserving youth, parents/guardians, educators and other school-based staff. Proficiency in data management, analysis, report reporting and presenting results. Training and experience providing consultation to schools in support of students with selective mutism.
