Position Summary: As the HCA, you will become very familiar with the residents and will be responsible for ensuring that their needs are met in accordance with their preferences. You will model a healthy culture in accordance with the Purpose, Mission, and Core Values of Lloydminster Region Housing Group o/a Pioneer Lodge and House and will encourage residents and their families (if applicable) to actively participate in developing a lifestyle that supports independence and ongoing companionship. Responsible to: The Health Care Aides will report to the Nursing Manger or delegate. The Nursing Manager may periodically assign additional duties not outlined below. Hours of Work: Health Care Aides are scheduled to staff our facility 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. . Temporary: November 2, 2026 - January 8, 2027 (possible of extension) QUALIFICATIONS: * Must be able to lift & transfer heavy items, up to 50 lbs. * Must be able to stand/walk for an entire shift, stoop, kneel, bend frequently. * Must be able to work in environments with exposure to unpleasant sights, odours and difficult interpersonal situations. * Must be willing to work all shifts - days, evenings, and nights, including weekends and statutory holidays. This job requires shiftwork * Will maintain the highest standards of hygiene and personal appearance. * Will possess a pleasant, willing, flexible, and positive attitude. * Must be fluent in written and spoken English. * First Aid and CPR are required. * Will have a desire to work with seniors and display a service mindset. * Be compassionate, responsive and convey a desire to care for people. * Commitment to Person Directed Care approaches. * Must be able to work and communicate effectively with all members of the Pioneer Lodge and House team. * Must have and maintain certification with the Alberta HCA Directory. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Will follow the Policies & Procedures of Lloydminster Region Housing Group, o/a Pioneer Lodge and House, and the Health Services policies/procedures. * Will conduct themselves in a polite & professional manner, treating staff, residents, families, and volunteers with dignity and respect. * Will prioritize the health, safety and general well-being of residents, staff, and visitors. * Will use the communication tools provided to access and share information. * Will provide care in a manner that demonstrates the principles of appropriate choice, dignity, privacy, independence, and individuality. * Collaborate with the Pioneer House team to create an environment where people are safe, respected, and comfortable. * Keep the residents’ preferences and needs at the center of all your decisions, conversations, and actions. * Support the resident’s lifestyle in a home-like environment in accordance with the Resident’s individualized care plan as authorized by the Homecare Case Manager. * Assist the resident with activities of daily living, including but not limited to, bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, toilet needs, feeding, mobility, etc. * Assist residents in the Dining room as necessary at mealtime and snack time. * Provides medication assistance to the Residents, according to current strategies. * Maintain records/charts as necessary. * Demonstrates an awareness/knowledge of the importance of health and safety; accident and injury prevention and adheres to safe work practices and procedures. * Follows and enforces the Emergency Response Plan, Infection Control protocols, WHMIS and OHS processes. * Identifies and reports in a timely manner any changes in a residents’ health status to the LPN/Supervisor. * Participates in ongoing education programs. * Will complete all duties on the Shift Task Lists promptly and efficiently. * Will provide support and assistance, as needed, to all members of the Pioneer Team. * Will assist in the training and orientating of staff. * Assist with CPR as needed. * Will participate in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS). * Will respond to resident alerts and call bells as required. * Will complete training as required by LRHG/Pioneer Lodge and House, including WHMIS, OHS, Food Safety, CPR, First Aid, Dementia training, MIP, and others. * Maintains confidentiality of LRHG o/a Pioneer Lodge and House including but not limited to accountability of all staff. Breach of confidentiality is serious and may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination. * Will complete additional tasks as assigned. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: * Generally, inside, although we encourage time spent outside with Residents if preferred/in accordance with their preferences. * Occasional service times in hot/cold temperatures * Occasional exposure to noise and dust, unpleasant sights, odours, and difficult interpersonal situations. * Potential for exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and communicable diseases. * Exposure to stressful environment, including but not limited to, service time rotation, weekend, and holiday duty, unusual or impaired behaviour by Residents, family, death and dying, or similar. * Subject to frequent interruptions when engaging in conversation with others. * May need to assist residents, family members, employees and visitors during difficult times which may include hostile and emotionally charged situations.

Requirements

Candidates must hold a valid certification with the Alberta HCA Directory and possess current First Aid and CPR certification. The role requires physical stamina for lifting and standing, as well as the ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
