Max Bell School of Public Policy Winter Term 2026-27 Course: Policy Case Study (Master of Public Policy Program) PPOL 638 Managing Principled Trade-offs in International Public Policy (1 credit) Teaching Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday 9am to 12 pm or 1pm to 4pm – Total 15 hours per week Course start and end dates: January 4, 2027, to January 8, 2027 Location: 680 Sherbrooke St. West, 6th floor, classroom #650 Salary $4,548 Teaching Qualification Requirements: Bachelor, M.A. and/or Ph.D. degree in a relevant field. Teaching experience at the University level is preferred. Extensive knowledge of policy transparency and policy transparency challenges. Experience: Experience in public policy, policy analysis, politics, analytics, or economics is essential. 5-Years + of applied/industry-related experience and academic research experience in the field are mandatory. Experience in the design and analysis of policies and implementation in actual government/industry settings, complete with a demonstrable understanding of the various complexities encountered in the policy process. Course Description: Case Study courses are offered over a one-week period in the Fall, Winter and Summer terms. These courses are designed to bridge theory with practice by introducing students to the various elements of the policy process that can only be understood by practitioners who were involved in the policy’s development. Practitioners interested in teaching a policy case study must include with their application a proposal for a case study that centers on a specific policy issue in which they are or were closely involved. The practitioner’s area of specialization should be as close as possible to that of the course being offered.
