This role is responsible for preparing high-quality specialty coffee beverages while creating a warm, efficient, and polished experience for every guest. The Barista manages the daily setup, operation, presentation, and closing of the coffee cart. The role also serves pastries and grab-and-go items, processes cashless transactions, monitors inventory, and maintains a clean and organized work area in accordance with Hyatt standards. Success in this role requires strong coffee preparation skills, attention to detail, sound organization, and a genuine passion for professional guest service. Some of the responsibilities include: Provide friendly, professional, and efficient service while creating a welcoming experience for guests Prepare and serve specialty coffee, espresso-based beverages, and other menu items to order, following established recipes and presentation standards Serve pastries and other grab-and-go food items in accordance with food-handling and presentation standards Process guest transactions accurately through the cashless Point-of-Sale (POS) system Complete the daily setup of the coffee cart, including preparing equipment, products, service ware, and the guest-facing display Operate the coffee cart independently and efficiently throughout the assigned shift Complete closing duties, including cleaning and sanitizing equipment and surfaces, storing products, and securing the cart Monitor inventory levels and replenish coffee, milk, pastries, cups, supplies, and other required products as needed Rotate, label, store, and handle products appropriately to support freshness, quality, and responsible inventory control Maintain a clean, organized, and well-presented coffee cart and surrounding work area in accordance with Hyatt standards Follow applicable health, safety, sanitation, and food-handling requirements and report equipment, product, or operational concerns promptly Respond to guest questions and requests knowledgeably and communicate feedback or service concerns to management Support opening and closing duties, including end-of-day cleaning and sanitizing of restaurant menus and service areas Qualifications Service-focused personality with a strong commitment to guest satisfaction Previous barista or specialty coffee experience preferred Knowledge of espresso preparation, milk steaming, beverage recipes, and coffee equipment preferred Experience using a Point-of-Sale (POS) system and processing cashless transactions preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Highly organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and quality-driven Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced guest-service environment Ability to follow recipes, sanitation procedures, and Hyatt service and presentation standards Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and quality-driven Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift Frequent reaching, bending, crouching, and repetitive hand and arm movements Ability to lift, carry, and move coffee, pastry, equipment, and supply items as required for daily operations Ability to safely operate and clean espresso machines, grinders, and related coffee-service equipment All Candidates must be in possession of identification proving authorization to work in Canada. Candidates should be organized, dependable, detail-oriented, able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, available for weekends and holidays, and authorized to work in Canada; physical duties include extended standing and lifting supplies.
