Job summary
A structured Host/Hostess role is critical to provide guidance to guests in the restaurant. The Host/Hostess will typically be the first and last point of contact for our guests and are expected to act as an experience ambassador to all external and internal customers. Each associate is expected to carry out, within their capabilities, all reasonable requests by management. Greet and seat guests. Control reservations and door by way of waiting list if necessary. Ensure the kitchen and other related areas are kept appraised of the number of bookings, times and special requests. Know and follow all company and local standard policies and procedures. Ensure to use proper hand washing procedures and to maintain high standard of personal hygiene. Ensure to follow daily/weekly side duties for host/hostess. Know the menu, hours of operation of the different sections of the Resort and should have a solid knowledge of local area. Participate in all required departmental meeting/training. Attend daily pre-shift/daily stand up meeting. Set up floor plan for servers daily. Ensure to follow proper cash handling procedures. Ensure to maintain phone etiquette while answering phone calls and taking reservations. Acknowledge and respond to all guests’ requests and complaints. Check restaurant for proper cleanliness and proper lighting Maintain your work area in a clean and well-organized manner. To look out for the safety of yourself, co-workers and to follow all Health and Safety requirements in the workplace. All other duties as assigned A high school diploma or equivalent. Must have previous customer service experience. Prior experience as a Restaurant Host/Hostess preferred. AGLC ProServe/ProTect is an asset Working knowledge a POS system Knowledge of food, wine and serving is an asset Must have previous customer service experience. Must be able to stand/walk for 8 hours/day. Must be able to lift/carry up to 30 lbs. The schedule for this position may vary and would require the ability to work shift work, late nights, overnight, weekends and holidays. WE OFFER A competitive wage and excellent benefits.
