In this role, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals for catering events while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and consistency. You will work collaboratively with our catering team to deliver exceptional culinary experiences for our clients, managing multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Our Operation Hours are 6am to3pm Monday to Friday with time off for all Canadian HolidaysPrepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and menu specifications, ensuring consistency and quality across all catering eventsMaintain strict adherence to food safety and sanitation protocols, including proper food handling, storage, and temperature controlOrganize and manage kitchen workstations, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained and sanitizedCoordinate with the catering team to plan meal preparation timelines and meet event deadlinesManage inventory of ingredients and supplies, monitoring stock levels and communicating needs to managementAccommodate dietary restrictions and special requests from clients, demonstrating flexibility and attention to detailOperate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including ovens, grills, fryers, and food processorsAssist in menu planning and food cost management to optimize efficiency and profitabilityMaintain a clean and organized kitchen environment throughout all shiftsCollaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during high-volume catering eventsQualificationsProven experience as a cook or in food preparation, preferably in a catering or high-volume kitchen environmentStrong knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation practicesProficiency in operating standard kitchen equipment and toolsExcellent time management and multitasking abilitiesAbility to follow recipes precisely while maintaining consistency in food qualityPhysical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasksStrong organizational and inventory management skillsAbility to work effectively in a team-oriented environmentExcellent communication skills and ability to take directionPreferred: Experience with large-scale event cateringPreferred: Knowledge of diverse cuisines and dietary accommodationsPreferred: Experience with food cost analysis and budget managementPreferred: Certification in food safety or culinary trainingAdditional InformationSodexo is committed to Employment Equity and Diversity.
