Position: Lifeguard (Part-time) Vacancies: More than 1 position will be filled Job Type: Part Time Department: Aquatics Reports to: Manager, Aquatics Pay Type: Hourly Starting Rate: $25.08 General Accountability: The purpose of this position is to conduct all lifeguarding, instructing, cleaning and other duties as assigned to ensure the safe and smooth daily operation of aquatic services. The incumbent is expected to communicate clearly and concisely and actively contribute to achieving team results. The incumbent must provide exceptional service to customers and internal partners and demonstrate initiative toward achieving organizational results and performance excellence. Duties: Performs duties of lifeguard and swim instructor in a professional manner Instructs aquatic programs to Lifesaving Society Standard Understands and applies facility and emergency policies and procedures Monitors activities of the swimming pool and surrounding areas Enforces pool rules and Alberta Health Regulations with patrons in the aquatic’s facility Administers first aid treatment and emergency response procedures Awareness and ability to use various forms of communication such as whistles, hand signals, body language, written, phone, and radio Completes daily task outlined on the shift rotation check list related to cleaning, lane ropes, and other routine tasks are performed on time and properly Reports operational concerns immediately to the Head Lifeguard for follow-up Assists with public education, outreach strategies and promotion of aquatic programs and services as required Ensures all required training are completed and mandatory in-services are attended Other related duties as assigned Qualifications: National Lifeguard Award (NL) Lifesaving Society Instructor (LSI) Intermediate First Aid, CPR Level C/AED Able to open (6:00 am or earlier) and close the pool (10:00 pm or later) Prior lifeguard experience is required Aquatic fitness or swim club or coaching experience or certification is an asset Basic working proficiency of MS Office suite of programs, use of software for staff scheduling, registration and swim lessons Ability to handle stress and to react quickly to situations Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact with the public and colleagues in a positive and courteous manner Ability to work well in a team environment Physically fit with the ability to lift to 50 lbs. and work in a daily routine of sitting, standing, walking, swimming, crouching and kneeling, and prolonged periods of time in the pool or on the pool deck Ability to always meet the physical fitness standards of the National Lifeguard Award Working Conditions: Guarding uniform is required Must be on time for all guarding and lesson start times Ability to attend mandatory in-service training (held approximately once a month and often on a Sunday evening) Extremely flexible hours (evenings, weekends, nights and holidays), shift work and split shifts, if required Comfortable working in a warm, humid and a loud environment Exposure to a diverse group of patrons Working with multiple age groups in the water Frequent exposure to pool chemicals, cleaning solvents, and other controlled substances Ability to wear a half or full chemical mask This competition will remain open until filled, with a first review date of June 3, 2026. Requirements

Must hold National Lifeguard, Lifesaving Society Instructor, and Intermediate First Aid/CPR C/AED certifications. Prior lifeguard experience and the ability to work a flexible schedule including early mornings and late nights are required.
