Guests can enjoy corporate events, brunch, casual drinks on a large dog-friendly patio, as well as distillery tours, tastings, and interactive classes. Veranda offers a unique workplace where history, craft beverage culture, and culinary innovation come together. Role Description The Server, and Bartender roles can be full-time, or part-time, on-site position based at Veranda at the Stables in Calgary, AB. This role is responsible for greeting guests, presenting menus, taking orders, and serving food and beverages in a timely, accurate manner. Day-to-day tasks include preparing and mixing cocktails and other drinks to recipe standards, pouring and serving craft beers and spirits, and maintaining a clean, organized bar and service station. The role also involves processing payments, handling guest inquiries, explaining menu items and pairing suggestions, and supporting special events such as tastings, tours, and private functions. Team members collaborate closely with the kitchen and bar teams to ensure a welcoming, safe, and engaging guest experience in a busy, craft-focused environment. Qualifications Strong customer service, hospitality, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for diverse guests. Experience with bartending fundamentals, including cocktail preparation, accurate pouring, and responsible alcohol service; knowledge of craft spirits and beers is an asset. Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems, cash handling, and payment processing, with attention to accuracy and detail. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced setting, manage time effectively, and work efficiently during peak service periods. Reliable teamwork and communication skills, including coordinating with kitchen, bar, and event staff to support smooth service. Knowledge of or willingness to learn food and beverage pairings, menu details, and allergen or dietary information. Understanding of basic food safety and sanitation practices; certifications such as ProServe or equivalent responsible beverage service training are an asset. Previous serving or bartending experience in a restaurant, bar, or event setting preferred; interest in craft beverages and culinary culture is highly beneficial.
