Course aimed at developing study methods, acquiring university-level writing, reading, communication, exam preparation and note-taking skills, and familiarization with campus resources and opportunities to facilitate integration into the university. This course is only accepted for elective credit toward the requirements of all programs in the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Requirements:

Requirements:

  • Doctorate completed or thesis in progress in one of the social sciences. Post-secondary teaching experience, facilitation experience, and experience in developing learning methods in a university setting.
  • Demonstrate expertise in teaching introductory social science courses, as evidenced by teaching the same or similar courses or by publications in the field.
  • Demonstrate experience mentoring vulnerable students in key learning skills. Demonstrate awareness of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI).

Additional comment:
The selected professor will be expected to work closely with professors who teach the same course in other sections (French and English), including the development of the course outline, to ensure consistency in approach and learning.

The course will be offered in person. The teaching method may change for health or other reasons.
