Course Description:

We are seeking a part-time instructor to teach SED 1115: Embedded Programming and Scripting, a 3-unit course designed to introduce students to foundational embedded programming and scripting for physical applications, through hands-on work with the Raspberry Pi platform and Python programming language. The course focuses on developing practical automation, monitoring, and control scripts, culminating in a simple project that is built and tested during the course. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging lectures and laboratories, and facilitate discussions on course topics
  • Create and assess assignments, laboratories, projects, and examinations that evaluate course competencies
  • Provide constructive feedback to support student learning and digital fluency
  • Align teaching with the approved course description and learning outcomes
  • Coordinate examinations and other course elements with SED 1515

Requirements:

Required:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Demonstrated teaching or professional training experience in programming
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred:

  • Ph.D. in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Solid understanding of embedded systems, Raspberry Pi hardware, and Python scripting
  • Experience with educational projects involving Raspberry Pi or similar platforms
  • Industry or research experience in embedded systems, automation, or IoT
  • Familiarity with basic electronics and interfacing sensors/actuators
  • Experience designing and supervising hands-on student projects
  • Demonstrated ability to explain technical concepts to students with varying levels of

programming experience

  • Experience teaching diverse student populations and fostering inclusive

learning environments

  • Experience promoting an active and experiential classroom
