SUBTITLE: High-Perf. Computing w Apltns

Course description: High performance computational algorithms for efficient code with modern multicore architectures. Introduction to parallel numerical algorithms for linear-algebra problems, novel low and mixed-precision floating-point methods, data assimilation and optimization techniques, gridding approaches, and machine learning algorithms. Emphasis is on the mathematical/numerical theory, programming concepts, and algorithm implementation. Engineering applications aimed at mainly (but not exclusively) mechanics (solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, energy methods etc.). Other applications could also be considered based on the background and interest of the attendees.

Candidate Profile:

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline with specialization.
  • Strong background and active research in the subject matter.
  • Background in mechanical engineering.
  • Licensed or eligible to be licensed from one of Canada’s engineering regulators

Teaching mode:

Online course with in person midterms and final exam.
