The Certified Occupational Health Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care including health promotion, illness prevention, supportive, curative, and rehabilitative care to individuals, families and communities. The Certified Occupational Health Nurse will be member of an interdisciplinary team, which roles include health care providers, educators, researchers and leaders/advocates for both the patients in their care and professional issues affecting health care in general.

What You'll Do

  • Incorporates health and wellness promotion and health teaching in patient encounters
  • Assesses, diagnoses, plans, implements and evaluates plan of care for all occupational and non-occupational health concern
  • Consults with collaborating physician when required, based upon scope of practice regulations. Consults and updates the Medical Director, as required
  • Conducts diagnostic testing (including electrocardiography, spirometry, audiometric testing, quantitative mask fit testing results, vision screening, immunizations and obtaining blood samples)
  • Drug & Alcohol results, physical demands testing, ear plug fit testing) and interprets results, consulting collaborative physician as indicated
  • Understanding of the Occupational Health Act and applicable legislations
  • Consults/collaborates with other health care providers to provide comprehensive patient care
  • Documents all interventions completed
  • Maintain in depth knowledge of testing required per company for TELUS Health Edmonton contracts
  • Maintain a professional and clean atmosphere through daily tidying and weekly cleaning of space as needed
  • Ability to travel outside clinic to perform client's clinics in mobile clinics, Flu clinic, health surveillance etc

Qualifications

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
  • Current registration (or eligibility to register) with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta
  • Minimum 5 years of Nursing experience
  • Minimum of 1 years of OHN experience
  • Certification in Occupational Health Nursing, required
  • Certification in Drug and Alcohol Testing, an asset
  • Valid driver's license with access to a vehicle
  • Current certification in BLS CPR/AED
  • Show sound professional judgment & initiative based on training & experience in the field of Nursing
  • Discreet & confidential in all patient related matters
  • Adheres to all safety & health policies, regulations, legislation & safe work practices
