Job Summary

Responsible for assisting Program Instructors with all aspects of preparation, organization and delivery of Museum programs for children through to adults while contributing to a positive and safe environment for all participants and peers. As well, as assisting with the delivery of Museum programmed children's birthday parties. Be advised these hours will fluctuate depending on seasons and peak periods/events and will include evenings and weekends

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Under direction from a Program Instructor, assists with the preparation, organization and delivery of museum programs. According to a plan from the Program Coordinator or program instructor, will assist with specific programs while creating a fun, safe and positive learning environment. This position may assist by taking half of the class or whole group, seeking guidance from the Program Instructor or Program Coordinator on implementation of programs and activities;
  • Assists Program Instructors with scheduling issues e.g. cross referencing group arrivals with master schedule and reporting participant numbers, absentees and any irregularities to the Program Coordinator;
  • Under the direction of Program Instructor, advises program participants of upcoming events, program changes or cancellations;
  • Helps ensures safety of program participants and raises any concerns to the program instructors
  • Refers any program decisions to the Program Coordinator;
  • In consultation with Program Instructors, advises Program Coordinator of any customer service issues, complaints or inquiries;
  • For children's' classes, checks and ensures all participant emergency and medical information is accurate on the class list and participant forms;
  • Assists Program Instructors with set-up and clean-up of all equipment and supplies need for programs and birthday parties;
  • As per direction from Program Instructor, checks the site, equipment and supplies to ensure they are appropriate to the activity and environment to reduce and minimize risk to other staff and participants;
  • Provide staff support for special events in a variety of roles.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Attending or completion of high school
  • Prior experience serving the public, customer service training preferred
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C
  • High Five Certification
  • Good verbal/written communications skills, customers service skills and sensitivity to interact with a diversity of patrons and program participants in a courteous and efficient manner.
