    Job Description

    To serve guests in a professional and polite manner while maintaining the Royal York's high standards of food and beverage quality, presentation and sanitation. To create a hospitable atmosphere to all internal and external guests while maintaining a professional image in an organized and efficient work area.

    • Consistently offer friendly and efficient service and exceed guest expectations
    • To respond to guest orders and requests in a timely fashion
    • Ensure that the work area is clean, neat and sanitized pre, post and throughout shift
    • Ensure that all equipment is in good working order and to report any malfunctions to your direct supervisor/manager
    • Bartending and guest suite serving will be required, including amenity orders
    • Be knowledgeable of all menu items and dietary requirements - being prepared to answer any guest questions in a concise manner
    • Ensure accuracy when reading room numbers, cover count, guest name, food and beverage items, and specific guest requests
    • Complete all assigned side duties, including mise-en-place
    • Attend all pre-shift briefings and any meetings designated by the supervisor
    • Use cooperation and teamwork to provide guests with quality and prompt service
    • Be accountable in handling end of shift reports and closing of bills
    • To have full understanding of the correct use of dishware, glassware and cutlery
    • The server will have read and understood all hotel policies and procedures, rules and regulations as outlined in the employee handbook
    • Ensures tables and trays are removed from guest suites, hallways, main and east landings in a prompt manner
    • Adhere to ALL Safe Standards, ensuring all hygiene and prevention measures are being met
    • Adhere to alcohol handling procedures and policies
    • Adhere to all LQA standards set for the department
    • Will work weekends, holidays and shift work as scheduled
    • Any other tasks as assigned

    Qualifications

    • Previous experience in food and beverage
    • Cash handling/transaction abilities and a working knowledge of POS Systems
    • Smart serve training program certification
    • Excellent interpersonal and team player attitude
    • Thoroughly organized and attention to detail oriented individual
    • Must be knowledgeable of food products, cooking methods, wines and spirits
    • Fluent in English
    • Excellent Computer Skills
    • Ability to multi-task
