Pulmonary Function RT (Job ID: 2941)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs routine Pulmonary Function and specialized tests according to Laboratory protocols.
- Conducts Methacholine Challenge tests.
- Performs ABG sampling and home oxygen assessments.
- Conducts Stage 1 Exercise tests.
- Maintains compliance with Infection Control hospital/program guidelines.
- Participates as part of the team to ensure all of the day-to-day activities of the Lab are performed including: equipment maintenance and calibration, policy and procedure review, workload statistics and other duties as required.
- Responsible for maintaining the quality of testing performed.
- Integrates best practices to foster a safe environment for all.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist in good standing with College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario (CRTO)
- Current BLS certification required.
- Member of the RTSO and/or CSRT preferred.
- Certified asthma or respiratory educator is an asset.
- Previous experience in Pulmonary Function Testing including, but not limited to, spirometry, lung volumes (body plethysmography), and diffusing capacity required.
- Previous experience with conducting methacholine challenge tests, ABG sampling, home oxygen assessments and Stage 1 Exercise tests considered an asset.
- Strong computer skills required.
- Excellent technical and clinical skills required.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
- Strong attention to detail required.
- Proven ability to interact effectively and efficiently with staff and patients.
- Must have an excellent attendance record.
