Job Description

Position Profile:
The North West Area of the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) has part time and casual positions for physicians with special training or competence in addictions medicine/opiate agonist treatment to provide services at the Rapid Access to Addiction Medicine (RAAM) clinic.

The RAAM clinic is situated in North Battleford and is part of the continuum of care that is offered by the SHA North West Mental Health and Addiction Service line. The focus of the clinic is to treat patients seeking treatment for substance use disorder. In addition to physicians, current members of the team include an RN, Addiction Counsellor/Case Manager, and Office Assistant. Cultural services are available through partnership with Battle River Treaty 6 Health Centre. The team is able to assist patients in connecting to other parts of mental health and addictions as well as other health and community services as required.

Clinic hours are from 0830 - 1630 daily with up to 4 hours per day of physician services.

Job Qualifications

Successful applicants will be eligible for a regular license to practice in Saskatchewan from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS). The candidate will either already meet the physician requirements set by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan to provide opioid agonist therapy or will be willing to undertake the process to meet these requirements. Applicants should be prepared to discuss how their education and experience has prepared them for clinical work in addictions medicine.

This individual must be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family centered care.

The successful applicant is expected to participate in the undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing medical education programs of the Department of Family Medicine in the North West Area.
